It is with great enthusiasm and pleasure that we present to you a copy of the study findings booklet for HCHS/SOL titled: "ABOUT OUR HEALTH: RESULTS FROM THE HISPANIC COMMUNITY HEALTH STUDY/STUDY OF LATINOS". Your participation in this landmark study has helped provide us with a better picture of health of Hispanics living in the United States. You are one of the 16,145 Hispanic men and women from the communities of Bronx, Chicago, Miami, and San Diego who have contributed to a better understanding of the health of Hispanics. This groundbreaking study has been funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The results of the study will allow you, and future generations of Hispanics to learn how to improve your health, and live longer and healthier lives. Your contribution has made this groundbreaking study HCHS/SOL a major success.

As reported in our newsletter, ¡Salud SOL! the study has been a great success, and NIH has renewed the study for another six years. It is very important that participants continue participating in the annual follow up phone interviews. In the near future we will contact you to invite you to return to the Miami research center for a second examination.

Gracias por haber hecho del Estudio de Salud de la Comunidad Hispana/Estudio de Latinos (HCHS/SOL, por sus siglas en inglés) un gran éxito. Con su ayuda hemos podido obtener información sobre los factores que influyen en enfermedades tales como derrame cerebral, diabetes, enfermedades del pulmón y del corazón en los hispanos. Los Institutos Nacionales de la Salud han renovado el estudio gracias a su exitosa contribución a un mejor conocimiento de la salud de la comunidad hispana. Necesitamos su valioso apoyo continuo como participante. Por lo tanto, nos gustaría invitarle a regresar para una segunda visita que durará de 3 a 4 horas, no tendrá ningún costo y podrá incluir pruebas de salud tales como: ecocardiograma, medidas de peso, estatura y grasa en el cuerpo, presión arterial, prueba de azúcar en la sangre para la diabetes, prueba de colesterol y de otras grasas en la sangre, prueba de la función del riñón y cuestionarios de salud.

Thank you for having made the Hispanic Community Health Study / Study of Latinos (HCHS / SOL) a major success. With your help we have been able to find out about the factors that influence diseases such as stroke, diabetes, lung and heart diseases in Hispanic. Because your contribution to our understanding of health and illness in the Hispanic community was so successful, the National Institutes of Health has renewed the study. We need your continued support as a valued participant. We would therefore like you to participate in a second visit that will last 3 to 4 hours at no cost and may include health tests such as: Echocardiogram, weight, height and body fast assessment               , blood Pressure, kidney Function Test, blood sugar test for diabetes, health questionnaires, cholesterol test and other blood fats assessment

We will contact you by phone at your convenience, to schedule the second SOL visit and to complete your annual follow up interview. Nos llena de alegría y satisfacción hacerles entrega del folleto que contiene información de los resultados de la investigación HCHS/SOL titulado: "SOBRE NUESTRA SALUD: RESULTADOS DEL ESTUDIO DE LA SALUD DE LA COMUNIDAD HISPANA/ESTUDIO DE LOS LATINOS". Su participación en esta investigación de importancia histórica ha sido de gran ayuda para entender mejor la salud de los hispanos que viven en los Estados Unidos. Usted es uno de los 16.415 hombres y mujeres hispanos de las comunidades del Bronx, Chicago, Miami y San Diego que han contribuido a un mejor conocimiento de la salud de los hispanos. Esta investigación histórica ha sido patrocinada por los Institutos Nacionales de la Salud (NIH). Los resultados de esta investigación permitirán que usted y futuras generaciones de hispanos aprendan a mejorar su salud y su calidad de vida. Su participación ha hecho que esta novedosa investigación HCHS/SOL sea un gran éxito.

Según fue reportado en nuestro boletín informativo, ¡Salud SOL!, este estudio ha sido sumamente exitoso y el NIH lo ha renovado por los próximos seis años. Es muy importante que usted continúe participando en la entrevista telefónica de seguimiento anual. En un futuro cercano nos comunicaremos con nuestros participantes para invitarlos a regresar al Centro de Investigación de Miami para un segundo examen clínico.
